Tell me about the Open Loop NY?

Open Loop NY is a Hop-on Hop-off sightseeing bus tours company of New York. Our open-top double-decker buses are equipped with pre-recorded commentary in 9 languages that can be listened to via complimentary headphones supplied on board during the Uptown, Downtown, and Night tours. There are six tour routes: Uptown (Blue Route), Downtown (Red Route), Midtown (Gray Route), the Brooklyn (Golden Route), Bronx (Light Blue Route), and the Night Tour (Black Route). You may hop off at any of our Uptown, Downtown, Brooklyn, Bronx, and Midtown tours stops to visit the attractions and neighborhoods you wish to explore. When you are ready, hop back on the bus at any of our listed stops to continue the tour.

 

Do the tours operate every day?

Open Loop New York runs tours every day of the year, except for New Year’s Eve when we operate approx. from 8:00 am to 2.00 pm according to the city street closures. Occasionally, severe weather and NYC special events could affect service. Please check our service information for up to date details.

 

How much time should I plan on for a tour?

Downtown Loop (Red Route): 2.5-3 hours.

Uptown Loop (Blue Route): 2-2.5 hours.

Midtown Loop (Gray Route): 1 hour.

Brooklyn Loop (Golden Route): 1.5-2 hours.

Bronx Loop (Light Blue Route): 1-1.5 hours.

Night Tour (Black Route): 2 hours continuous tour (no hop-on hop-off service).

 

Will there be a tour guide on the bus?

Our buses are equipped with pre-recorded audio-guide, available in your choice of 9 languages on the Uptown, Downtown, and Night Tours. Complimentary headsets are available to grab on the first level of the bus.

 

Is the audio-guide available in my language?

Audio-guide is available in the following 9 languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Mandarin, Korean, Russian.

 

Which passes include the Night Tour?

The Night Tour is included in our All Loops ticket and All Loops + Cruise package. You can also buy the Night Tour ticket separately or additionally to your other tickets. 

 

When is the next bus coming?

What time are the first and the last buses and how often do they run?

Downtown Loop (Red Route): the first bus departs Stop #1 - W 42nd St. btw. 8th & 9th Ave. at 8:00 am. A full circuit is approx. 2.5-3 hours. Buses arrive every 20 min. The last tour departure from Stop #1 is at 6:20 pm.

Uptown Loop (Blue Route): the first bus departs Stop #1 - W 42nd St. btw. 8th & 9th Ave. at 8.10 am. A full circuit is approx. 2-2.5 hours. Buses arrive every 20 min in summer. The last tour departure from Stop #1 is at 5:20 pm.

Midtown Loop (Gray Route): the first bus departs Stop #1 - W 42nd St. btw. 8th & 9th Ave. at 8:45 am. A full circuit is approx. 1 hour. Buses arrive every 30 min. The last tour departure from Stop #1 is at 5:15 pm.

Brooklyn Tour (Golden Route): Buses depart Stop #8 - 477 Broadway btw. Broome & Grand St. at 10:00 am, 11:40 pm, 2:20 pm, and 4:00 pm. A full circuit is 1.5-2 hours.

Bronx Loop (Light Blue Route): Buses depart Stop #22 – 112th St. & Amsterdam Ave. at 9:00 am, 10:15 am, 11:30 am. Buses depart Stop #38 – 1 E. 161st St. & Grand Concourse, Bronx at 9:35 am, 10:50 am, 1:50 pm

Night Tour (Black Route): the first bus departs Stop #2 (46th St. & Broadway) and Stop #32 (50th St. & Broadway) at 7:00 pm. A full circuit is 2 hours. Buses arrive every 30 min. The last tour departures are from Stop #2 at 10:00 pm and from Stop #32 at 9:00 pm.

Please note: your ticket is valid for at least 24 hours, so if you start your tour at 2.00 pm, you can use your ticket until the same time the following day.

 

Are accommodations available for persons with disabilities?

Yes, all our buses are wheelchair accessible. Please note that passengers with mobility impairments may not be able to access the upper deck on our buses. We also cannot guarantee the accessibility of the various attractions during the tour.

 

Can I hire one of the buses for a private event?

Yes, buses are available for private events. Please email us for more information.  

 

What packages includes the Cruise?

The Cruise is included in our All Loops + Cruise package available for 1-5 days.

 

What are the cruises schedules?

Please check the Hornblower Cruises websites for updated schedules.

 

What is the cruise boarding process?

Boarding begins half an hour before departure. To ensure you get on the cruise at the time you are interested in, please arrive 45 min to 1 hr before the departure to allow yourself enough time to obtain boarding passes from the box office and to find seating on the cruise.

 

Which bus stop should I get off to reach the water cruise?

Hornblower cruises depart from Pier 15 (Downtown Stop #13). 

 

What is your child ticketing policy?

Children under 5 y.o. may travel free of charge. A child ticket is available for children aged between 5 and 12 y.o.  All children must be accompanied by an adult. Strollers must be folded and stowed on the lower deck.

 

How do I buy tickets?

You can buy tickets on our website, from any of our street agents located throughout New York City, or at our Guest Center at 785 8th Ave. (btw. 47th and 48th St.). 

 

How do I redeem my voucher?

You must redeem your voucher for an Open Loop Smart Card to access the tours. The voucher can be redeemed at our Guest Center at 785 8th Ave., btw. 47th & 48th St. After you redeem your voucher for a Smart Card, simply scan the Smart Card as you board the bus.

 

Is there a discount available for groups?

Yes, discounts are available for groups of 20 or more. Please email us for more information.  

 

Do I have to use my bus ticket on consecutive days?

Yes. If you purchase a 2, 3, 4, or 5 days ticket, you must travel on consecutive days.

 

Do you have a guest center in New York?

Yes. We have a Guest Center located close to Times Square on 785 8th Avenue (btw. 47th and 48th St.). The Guest Center regular operating hours are from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm. During summer it's open from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm. You can redeem vouchers, purchase bus tickets and attractions tickets at the Guest Center. The nearest subway station is 50th Street on C/E lines. We're also a short walk from 50th Street station (1 train), 47-50 Streets-Rockefeller Center station (B, D, F, M lines), Times Square-42 Street Station (N, Q, R, W, 2, 3, 7 lines). There is a small parking garage located on 48th St. btw. 8th & 9th Ave. and additional parking options at Port Authority, located on 42nd St. & 8th Ave.

If I'm not satisfied with the tour, am I able to get a refund?

We are passionate about making your sightseeing experience as pleasant as possible. However, if we're unable to operate a service during the period of the validity of your ticket due to circumstances totally within our control, you shall be entitled to a full or part refund of the price of your ticket. Please mail your refund request within 14 days of the tour to Open Loop NY Guest Department, 785 8th Ave., New York, NY 10036, or by email at [email protected] Include your original boarding passes, receipts, and a written statement explaining why you are requesting a refund. Please note that we are not liable for delay or failure to perform any of the services if such delay or failure results from circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
